A
point to point, 15K (9.3 mile) race on the
Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail starting at the Newville trail head and
finishing at the Shippensburg Township Park. The trail has a smooth
crushed stone surface with long sweeping turns thru beautiful farmland.
Awards: top 3 overall male & female, top 2 masters male
& female and top 2 age group male & female (19
& under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over)
Transportation will be provided for racers from the park to the start
in Newville. The bus will leave Shippensburg Township Park at 11:45 and
12:30.
You will be able to check a bag at the start in Newville and it will be
transported back to the Shippensburg Township Park. The bags will remain
secured until your return to the park. You may retrieve your
bag by showing the bag check your race number.
Last year we had 73 starters in driving rain storm with Troy Harrison
winning for a second year in a row with a time of 52:44. The female winner was
Jennifer Gerhart in a
time of 1:08:33. The masters category was very competitive with 42
of the 73 starters. It was won by Brian Stormin 1:09:06 and
6th overall and Cheryl Slattery in 1:20:10 and 7th overall female.
5k Run - 11 am
An
out and back 5k (3.1 mile) fun run/walk on the Cumberland Valley
Rail-Trail beginning and ending at the Shippensburg Township Park.
30k Ride - 10:45 am
An
out and back 30K (18.6 mile) bike ride on the Cumberland Valley
Rail-Trail from the Shippensburg Township Park to the trail head in
Newville and back to the Shippensburg Township Park. Rest stops will be
available along the way with a snack in Newville.
15k Ramble - 10 am
A
15K (9.3 mile) hike from the Shippensburg Township Park to the trail
head in Newville. Water stops will be available along the way.
Transportation will be provided from Newville back to the park.
We added a hike of the entire length last year and it proved to be
quite popular. Here
is your opportunity to hike the trail from end to end and not have to
arrange a ride back. The only requirement is that you give yourself
enough time to get to Newville before the bus bringing the 15k racers to
the start is ready to leave at 1pm.
All participants receive lunch. All pre-registrants will receive a t-shirt • Pre-registration ends on April 6.
Lunch will be provided to everyone who is registered. Extra
lunches will be available for purchase for your family and friends who
come out to cheer you on. If you would like to
have a vegetarian option, please call 717.300.1337 or email race@cvrtc.org
in advance so we can make the arrangements.
Registration for all events will occur at the Shippensburg Township Park starting at 9 am.
Bike riders will start as a group at 10:45 am.
Racers
and Ramblers must be registered to receive transportation.
Transportation for the race will leave the park at 11:45 and
12:30.
Return transportation for the ramble will leave Newville at 1 PM.
All participants will be eligible for a random prize drawing to be held
after the completion of the race.

Valley Rail-to-Trails Council,
a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation
