To access the trail at Shippensburg, from the north use I-81 exit 29, turn right onto Walnut Bottom Rd, left onto King Street (US 11). From the south use I-81 exit 24, turn left onto Olde Scotland Rd, left onto Fayette Street, right onto King Street (US 11). From King Street (US 11) turn onto North Earl Street and go 2 blocks.

This trailhead, located adjacent to the Shippensburg University campus, includes seasonal restroom facilities and a paved parking lot for 29 cars, including two handicapped accessible spots. The trailhead is also home to the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum, located inside a refurbished Penn Central boxcar, and the Conrail Museum, located in a refurbished Conrail Boxcar. Both Museums are open from dawn-to-dusk, 7 days a week. There is also a refurbished Baltimore and Ohio hopper car. The Steam Plant Sculpture Path displays a number of large sculpture pieces located along the first mile heading northeast along the trail from the trailhead. Dining, lodging and gas are nearby. There is a Level 2 EV charging station at Shippensburg Station. Other EV Chargers can be found 1 mile away at the Courtyard by Marriott Shippensburg and 5 miles away at Adams Electric Co-Op on Duncan Road.

To access the trail from at the Shippensburg Township Park, from the north use I-81 exit 29, turn right onto Walnut Bottom Rd. Left onto King Street (US 11). From the south use I-81 exit 24, turn left onto Olde Scotland Rd. Left onto Fayette Street. Right onto King Street (US 11). Turn onto North Queen Street at Sheetz then right onto Britton Road; approximately ½ mile to the park.

Co-located with Shippensburg Township Community Park, this trailhead offers ample parking, numerous sports fields, a basketball court, a disc golf course, a playground/tot lot, a dog park, picnic tables and pavilions, an amphitheater, benches and several restroom facilities. The restrooms at the small pavilion closest to the rail trail are open year-round. A water misting/wading pool can be reserved for your use. The equestrian section of the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail begins here. Equestrians should travel north towards Newville as horses are not permitted to cross the bridge located immediately south of the trailhead. There is a mounting block on the trail and plenty of space for horse trailer parking at the park facility. Dining, lodging and gas are nearby. There is a Level 2 EV charging station 1 mile away at Shippensburg Station, 1 1/4 miles away at the Courtyard by Marriott Shippensburg and 4 miles away at Adams Electric Co-Op on Duncan Road.

Mile 5 – Oakville: 401 Oakville Rd., Shippensburg, PA, 17257

To access the trail at Oakville, from US 11 or PA 533 turn west onto Oakville Road and follow into village.

This trailhead has a small parking lot, several shaded picnic tables and a horse mounting block. Restrooms are available at the North Newton Township Park, ¼ mile west of the trail on Oakville Road. The park has a playground, ball field, basketball court, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, 1/2 mile walking trail, large pavilion with picnic tables and charcoal grill, and an indoor community room.

To access the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail in Newville, use exit I-81 (exit 37, PA 233 north). As you enter town, take the first left onto Vine Street and follow through town becoming Fairfield Street (PA 533W). As you leave town, turn left on Cherry Street and go to street end at McFarland Street. From Carlisle, Take PA 641 through Newville, turn left on Cemetery Road and follow to end of the road on McFarland Street.

This trailhead has a parking lot including two handicapped accessible spots and horse trailer parking, year-round restroom facilities, several shaded picnic tables and a horse mounting block. Equestrians should travel south towards Shippensburg as horses are not permitted to cross the bridge located immediately north of the trailhead. Dining and gas are nearby. There is a Level 2 EV charging station 1 mile away in Green Ridge Village.

Springview Rd (limited access): 167 Springview Rd., Carlisle, PA, 17013

To access the trail from US 11 turn north onto Crossroad School Rd. In ½ mile turn right onto Springview Rd. Follow Springview Rd 1½ miles. The trailhead will be on the right.

To access the trail from PA 641 turn south onto Greason Rd. After the 2nd 90 degree turn, take the first right onto Springview Rd at the Yellow Breeches Educational Center.  Follow Springview Rd 1 1/3 miles. The trailhead will be on the left.

This trailhead accesses 2 miles of trail and does NOT connect to the remaining Cumberland Valley Rail Trail. It has parking for 5 cars including 1 handicapped accessible spot. There are no restroom facilities and no horse trailer parking. Please do not park on Greason Rd to access the trail.

To access the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail from Carlisle use exit I-81 at Allen Rd (exit 44, PA 465 north).  Cross over Ritner Highway (US 11) . Go approximately ½ mile and turn at the water tower on the right.  After parking, face Allen Road and turn right onto the West End trail. Follow the West End trail for ¼ mile to the Rail Trail.

The Allen Road trailhead as a picnic table and accesses 1 mile of trail. You cannot connect to the remaining Cumberland Valley Rail Trail from Allen Road. This trailhead connects to the Carlisle Borough West End trail allowing bicycle and pedestrian access to downtown Carlisle. Dining, lodging and gas are nearby. There is a Level 2 EV charging station 3 miles away at the Best Western Carlisle South and a DC fast charging station 5 miles away at Sheetz on Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle.
